The Bible makes numerous promises and provides a wealth of advice. You might be curious about its teachings but also cautious. Should you trust the promises and advice of such an ancient book? Can you truly believe what the Bible says about enjoying life now and in the future? Millions of people do. Let's explore whether you can too (Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania, 2021, pp. 14-15).
Is the bible a book of fact or fiction? The Bible claims to be a record of “accurate words of truth.” (Ecclesiastes 12:10). It recounts real events involving real people (refer to Luke 1:3; 3:1-2). Numerous historians and archaeologists have verified the accuracy of significant dates, people, places, and events described in the Bible (Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania, 2021, pp. 14-15).
Ecclesiastes 12:10, “The congregator sought to find delightful words and to record accurate words of truth.” (Ecclesiastes 12:10, New World Translation)
Luke 1:3, “I resolved also, because I have traced all things from the start with accuracy, to write them to you in logical order, most excellent The·ophʹi·lus.” (Luke 1:3, New World Translation)
Luke 3:1-2, “In the 15th year of the reign of Ti·beʹri·us Caesar, when Pontius Pilate was governor of Ju·deʹa, Herod was district ruler of Galʹi·lee, Philip his brother was district ruler of the country of It·u·raeʹa and Trach·o·niʹtis, and Ly·saʹni·as was district ruler of Ab·i·leʹne, in the days of chief priest Anʹnas and of Caʹia·phas, God’s declaration came to John the son of Zech·a·riʹah in the wilderness.” (Luke 3:1-2, New World Translation)

Why can we say that the Bible is not outdated? In many aspects, the Bible has been ahead of its time, particularly in its discussion of scientific subjects. While some of its statements were controversial when written, modern science has since confirmed their accuracy. The Bible remains “always reliable, now and forever” (Psalm 111:8) (Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania, 2021, pp. 14-15).
Psalm 111:8, “They are always reliable, now and forever; They are made in truth and righteousness” (Psalm 111:8, New World Translation)

Explore how modern science aligns with the Bible and examine a few remarkable Bible prophecies (Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania, 2021, pp. 14-15).
During the time when the Bible was written, many people had incorrect beliefs about the Earth's shape. A theory from after the Bible's completion suggested that the universe originated from a cosmic egg and that the Earth was supported by various creatures. In contrast, around 1473 BCE, Moses wrote that the Earth is suspended on nothing (Job 26:7) (Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania, 2021, pp. 14-15).
.
About 732 BCE, the prophet Isaiah described the Earth as a circle or sphere (Isaiah 40:22). These biblical writers challenged the popular notions of their time. It wasn't until around the 6th century BCE that the Greek philosopher Pythagoras might have proposed that the Earth is a sphere, and over 3,000 years after Moses' writings, scientists like Isaac Newton discovered that the Earth appears to hang on nothing (Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania, 2021, pp. 14-15).
Job 26:7, “He stretches out the northern sky over empty space, Suspending the earth upon nothing.” (Job 26:7, New World Translation)
Isaiah 40:22, “There is One who dwells above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers. He is stretching out the heavens like a fine gauze, And he spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.” (Isaiah 40:22, New World Translation)

The Earth's water cycle wasn't fully understood until the 1800s. Yet, take note of how the Bible described the Earth's water cycle thousands of years earlier. (Job 36:27,28) (Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania, 2021, pp. 14-15).
Job 36:27,28, “He draws up the drops of water; They condense into rain from his mist; Then the clouds pour it down; They shower down upon mankind.” (Job 36:27,28, New World Translation)

The Bible foretold important events. No human can predict the future with precise detail. Around 732 BCE, the prophet Isaiah prophesied that a man named Cyrus would conquer the powerful city of Babylon, dry up a river, and enter the city through open gates (Isaiah 44:27-45:4). Historical records confirm that every aspect of this prophecy came true (Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania, 2021, pp. 14-15).
Additionally, the prophet Jeremiah predicted that Babylon would turn into a heap of ruins and would never be inhabited again (Jeremiah 50:39; 51:37). Despite its strategic importance, Babylon eventually became a desolate ruin, as foretold (Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania, 2021, pp. 14-15).
Isaiah 44:27-45:4, “The One saying to the deep waters, ‘Be evaporated, And I will dry up all your rivers’; The One saying of Cyrus, ‘He is my shepherd, And he will completely carry out all my will’; The One saying of Jerusalem, ‘She will be rebuilt,’ And of the temple, ‘Your foundation will be laid.’” This is what Jehovah says to his anointed one, to Cyrus, Whose right hand I have taken hold of, To subdue nations before him, To disarm kings, To open before him the double doors So that the gates will not be shut: “Before you I will go, And the hills I will level. The copper doors I will break in pieces, And the iron bars I will cut down. I will give you the treasures in the darkness And the hidden treasures in the concealed places, So that you may know that I am Jehovah, The God of Israel, who is calling you by your name. For the sake of my servant Jacob and of Israel my chosen one, I am calling you by your name. I am giving you a name of honor, although you did not know me.” (Isaiah 44:27-45:4, New World Translation)
Jeremiah 50:39, “For here I am raising up and bringing against Babylon An assembly of great nations from the land of the north. They will come against her in battle formation; From there she will be captured. Their arrows are like those of a warrior Causing bereavement of children; They do not come back without results.” (Jeremiah 50:39, New World Translation)
Jeremiah 51:37, “Babylon has been a golden cup in the hand of Jehovah; She made all the earth drunk. From her wine the nations have drunk; That is why the nations have gone mad.” (Jeremiah 51:37, New World Translation)

History confirms that in 539 BCE, King Cyrus of Persia and his army conquered the city of Babylon. They diverted the river that protected the city and entered through gates that had been left open, capturing it without a battle. Today, more than 2,500 years later, Babylon remains in ruins. How does the outcome for Babylon confirm the fulfillment of the prophecy in Isaiah 13:19-20? (Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania, 2021, pp. 14-15)
Isaiah 13:19, 20, “And Babylon, the most glorious of kingdoms, The beauty and the pride of the Chal·deʹans, Will be like Sodʹom and Go·morʹrah when God overthrew them. She will never be inhabited, Nor will she be a place to reside in throughout all generations. No Arab will pitch his tent there, And no shepherds will rest their flocks there.” (Isaiah 13:19, 20, New World Translation)

Why can we trust the Bible's predictions about the future? The Bible includes prophecies that reveal "things that have not yet been done" (Isaiah 46:10). It has accurately predicted many historical events well before they happened and describes the current state of the world in remarkable detail. We will delve into some of the Bible's prophecies concerning today's world conditions, highlighting their remarkable accuracy. (Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania, 2021, pp. 14-15).
Isaiah 46:10, “From the beginning I foretell the outcome, And from long ago the things that have not yet been done. I say, ‘My decision will stand, And I will do whatever I please.’” (Isaiah 46:10, New World Translation)

The Bible predicted events that we are witnessing today. It refers to our era as "the last days" (2 Timothy 3:1). Let's explore what the Bible prophesied about the notable conditions and the common attitudes of people during the last days through the scriptures provided below (Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania, 2021, pp. 14-15).
Matthew 24:6,7, “You are going to hear of wars and reports of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for these things must take place, but the end is not yet. “For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be food shortages and earthquakes in one place after another.” (Matthew 24:6,7, New World Translation)
2 Timothy 3:1-5, “But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, having an appearance of godliness but proving false to its power; and from these turn away.” (2 Timothy 3:1-5, New World Translation)
